Had driver that worked for HP 722c in Win 7 but can't find driver for Win 10. Is it really that hard for HP or someone to create such a driver?

Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I would suggest you try the Windows built-in drivers. Follow the steps below:
• Go to Control Panel - Devices and Printers - Click on "Add printer" and follow the on-screen instructions.
• When the page prompts for the drivers, select "Windows update". The driver list will be updated.
• Click HP, Hewlett Packard, or Hewlett-Packard in the Manufacturer pane, and then click the name of your printer in the Printers pane.
Refer to this document HP Printers - Installing and Using the Windows Built-in Print Driver for help.
Let me know if this helps.
If the information I've provided was helpful, give us some reinforcement by clicking the "Accept as solution" button, that'll help us and others see that we've got the answers!
Thanks!
Have a great day!

Thanks for the response, Betty. I tried what you recommended but there's just no drivers for this type of Deskjet. Closest one I could find out there was a 720c which you would think might work but didn't. Don't think there's much incentive for anyone to create this driver since there's probably not many of these printers left in the universe. Not the end of the world as I will use another printer. Thanks again!!

Try these drivers:
- On your keyboard press both the Windows key and R key together.
- In the window that opens, type in the words "Control Printers" and then click OK. This will open the Devices and Printers window.
- Right click on your printer and select Printer properties.
- In the new window, make sure you are viewing the Ports tab, if not then click on Ports at the top. In the Ports tab, locate the name of the port that is currently checked. Write the name of this port on a piece of paper as we will need it later on. When you are done, close this window.
- Back in the Devices and Printers window, click on Add a printer at the top of the window.
- In the window that opens, click The printer that I want isn't listed.
- Click on Add a local printer or network printer with manual settings. Click Next.
- Click on Windows Update.
- Once the Windows Update is done, click on HP under Manufacturer and click on HP Deskjet 990c under Printers. ClickNext.
- Give the printer a name.
- On the next window, make sure Do not share this printer is checked. Click Next.
- Leave the Set as the default printer option unchecked. Click Finish.
Hope this helps!
