I have a HP Laser Jet Pro MFP M428fdw

My computer is a Apple MacBook Air,  version Tahoe 26.5.1

I have been advised that Intel based apps will not work with future releases of Mac.  Needs to be updated to Apple Silicon Version.  Please advise if we can update my printer to be compatible with MacBook Air

Thank you so much for your response @Zippy10980

Yes, the HP LaserJet Pro MFP M428fdw is fully compatible with Apple Silicon (M‑series) MacBooks. You do not need to install any additional HP drivers, as the printer supports Apple AirPrint, allowing your MacBook Air to automatically detect it over Wi‑Fi or USB.

Setting Up Your Printer (Using AirPrint)

  1. Turn on the printer and make sure it is connected to the same Wi‑Fi network as your Mac, or connect it via USB.
  2. On your Mac, open the Apple menu > System Settings (or System Preferences).
  3. Click Printers & Scanners.
  4. Select Add Printer, Scanner, or Fax (or click the + icon).
  5. Choose your M428fdw from the list, and ensure the Use or Driver option is set to AirPrint or Secure AirPrint.

Once added, your printer will be ready for use without any additional setup.

Have a great day!
