I have installed my Officejet Pro 8625 with Ethernet connected to Linksys WRT1900acs router, with USB to router, and wirelessly multiple times. Each time removing the software and restarting over. When I open the software it asks to connect new printer, it sees it but never finishes installing. I can add printer through windows “printer & scanners” and will print, but will never be able to use HP software for fax and scanning. Any ideas? Thanks.

Hi,
Connecting a printer to a print server (a USB port of a router) will only allow printing, not full capabilities as provided for a direct USB connection to a computer or am ethernet or wireless network connection to a router.
Please connect the printer to the router with an Ethernet cable or wirelessly and then try installing the HP Software.
When the printer software moves to the Installing a network printer stage, right click the start button and select Device Manager.
Expand the Printers category, if you see any listed Unknown Device right-click it and select Uninstall and then cancel the HP installation.
Now repeat installing the network connected printer and check for any difference.

So the only thing listed in device manager under printers during install was "HP Officejet Pro 8620, but I went ahead and deleted it anyway, and restarted the install.
That fixed it, it now shows "Fax - HP Officejet Pro 8620 and HP Officejet Pro 8620" and software works.
Can't tell you how much I appreciate your help, I spent many hours tring to get this to work.
Thank you, Thank you.

Hi again,
I was happy because the scanning start to work! but it was premature the printer configuration is still in probelm
via Printer & Scanners menu I try to add a printer. I klick on HP 6820 and it show me message "Driver in unavailable"
and in Device Manager menu I do not have any Printer on the list (only Print Queues)
How to progress here?
Thanks

It's done!
I cannot explain how, but after some retries finally the install program started to work
Now I can print & scan. Very complicated process, It used to be so simple on previous days...
Many thanks

ShlomiL - your solution worked perfectly with my HP 8625 Pro. THANK YOU! The other HP troubleshooting tools were of no help to me. I had tried wireless and wired network connections - 10+ times. Nothing worked. I had zero issues installing an HP 8600 on the same PC and network. Great work. It should be part of the official HP toolkit.
