Is there a way to use HP Deskjet 2050 all in one with a new Mac using OS14 Sonoma? I've had to buy a new computer as my other one stopped working and now the printer doesn't seem to be usable. Any solutions much appreciated - or do I just have to buy a new printer, too? Thanks!

Hi @katherineh,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
The HP Deskjet 2050 is an older printer model, and sometimes compatibility can be an issue with newer operating systems like macOS 14 (Sonoma). However, there might still be ways to make it work with your new Mac. Here are some steps you can try.
- Check for macOS Compatibility: Visit the HP website and search for your printer model. Look for any updated drivers or software that may be compatible with macOS 14. Sometimes, manufacturers release updated drivers to ensure compatibility with newer operating systems.
- Use AirPrint: If your printer supports AirPrint, you can connect it to your Mac via Wi-Fi and print without needing any additional drivers. Check if your HP Deskjet 2050 supports AirPrint. If it does, you can add it to your Mac as an AirPrint printer and start printing wirelessly.
- Install Generic Drivers: Sometimes, macOS comes with generic drivers that might work with older printer models. Try adding the printer using macOS's built-in printer setup utility and see if it detects the printer and installs any compatible drivers automatically.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

For driver install follow the next steps:
Remember to connect USB cable before install.
