Is there any way to still use a Deskjet 3054 with Google wifi given Google's increased wifi secuirty?

Hi @444brl

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Many routers support both 2.4 GHz and 5.0 GHz frequency bands, but HP Deskjet 3054 All-in-One Printer only supports connecting to a 2.4 GHz. Make sure the 2.4 GHz router band is enabled and broadcasting. If the router broadcasts separate network names (SSIDs) for each band, connect the printer to the 2.4 GHz band SSID.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Google Wifi says "For personal devices that support only the 2.4GHz band (an older phone, for example), it will automatically connect to that band."  So this is not the issue.  The issue looks to be of security and Google says "

Google Wifi supports WPA2, which is the latest and most popular Wi-Fi encryption protocol. This makes sure that only people with the correct passphrase can join your wireless network.

Google Wifi doesn't support older protocols like WPA and WEP because they have been deemed unsecure by the Wi-Fi Alliance and industry experts. There are also known and documented attacks against WEP and WPA. WPS, a mechanism that lets a device join a wireless network without entering a password, is also not supported for security reasons."

Given this, is there any way for this printer to use WEP2?

Hi @444brl

Thanks for replying. Please use a WPA2 encryption instead of WEP. WEP is outdated and not as secured as WPA2.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

How do I do that with this printer (Deskjet 3054)?  I only see WEP on the screen.

If you have full feature HP driver installed, you may try converting the wired connection to a wireless. Refer to this document for step by step instructions - HP Printers - Changing from a USB to a Wireless Connection

Let me know how that goes.
