Hi @PatPoland,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

When you change your internet provider and reconnect your printer to a new modem, it's common to encounter issues with multiple printer entries in your computer's list of available printers. To clean up the list and remove the old printer entries, you can follow these steps.

  1. Uninstall the Printer Software:
    a. Open your computer's control panel or settings.
    b. Navigate to "Devices and Printers" or "Printers & Scanners."
    c. Locate the printer entries that you want to remove (the ones associated with the old modem) and right-click on them.
    d. Select "Remove" or "Uninstall."

  2. Delete Printer Drivers:
    a. To ensure that any associated printer drivers are removed, you can open the "Device Manager" on your computer.
    b. Look for the old printer entries under "Print queues" or "Printers."

    c. Right-click on the old printer entries and select "Uninstall device."

  3. Restart Your Computer: After you've uninstalled the old printer entries and drivers, restart your computer to ensure that any remaining traces are cleared.

  4. Reconnect the Printer:
    a. Make sure your HP Smart Tank 516 printer is properly connected to the new modem and your computer.
    b. Install the latest printer software for your HP Smart Tank 516. You can usually download this software from the HP website.

  5. Add the Printer:
    a. Once you've installed the new printer software, go to "Devices and Printers" or "Printers & Scanners" in your computer's control panel or settings.
    b. Click on "Add a printer" or "Add a device."
    c. Follow the on-screen instructions to add your HP Smart Tank 516 to your computer.

By following these steps, you should be able to remove the old printer entries associated with your previous modem and ensure that only the active printer is displayed in your list of available printers.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Hi Alden 4, thank you for your answer - I applied the proposed solution however I had also to uninstall the HP Smart application to get rid off old connections. It looks to work fine now. Perhaps this can be more automated by HP, that Client shall be notified when such situation occurs.

Thank you very much and nice day! Pat
