HP Officejet Pro 8600 e-All-in-One Printer - N911a
Microsoft Windows 11

Hello - The install is unable to find my printer on the network.  I have removed it and re-added it several times.  I also uninstalled the printer, each time I try to install it, I get this error message when it tries to find the printer.  I've ckecd the firewall and it allows the HP printer.  I don't know what else to check.

Any antivirus software, try disabling that during the install. Have you confirmed that the IP address of the printer is the same network as the workstation?

Hello -

This did not work.  I turned off the antivirus and had the same issues. Yes, the IP address of the printer is the same one that is on my network.

Let us take one step back and check communication. Have you tried pinging the printer or accessing the Embedded web server to ensure that the two devices can communicate?

to ping the printer, on your computer, press Windows key plus R and type CMD in the command line that opens. This will open a DOS style command line. Type PING (one space) and then the IP address of the printer. If your computer and printer can communicate you should see the reply as below (with your IP address)

To access the embedded web server you simply type the IP address of the printer into address bar of a browser.

If either of the above methods allows you to access the printer then you know it is on the network and the issue is likely the software. I stand by my original recommendation to use the HP Smart Universal Printer Driver and manually install.

Hello - the response I get is Destination Host Unreachable, but when I log into my network, that's where I see the printer on the network.
