Officejet K7100
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello,

I am trying to set up an Officejet K7100 on my Acer Aspire C24 (windows 10).

I tried downloading the software from online, but it doesn't seem to be compatible with Windows 10. So instead I manually set up the printer using windows built-in printing driver.

I am trying to print an A3 page and have gone  through the usual print setting to change the page size in the options window that appears before selecting 'print'. However it still only prints A4 size on an A3 page.

When I go into my computer's printer setting and look at the printer properties, it gives A4 as the only available paper option. I wasn't sure if this could be part of the problem?

I have tried changing some options in the Printing Preferences, but they always seem to revert back to the default settings.

Can anyone help? I am definitely stuck.

Many thanks, Nicola

The printer series shows introduction in 2011

The printer may not support Full Feature Software for Windows 10.  ?

In fact, at this writing, I cannot find anything of the sort - latest software found does not support anything past Vista.

HP Officejet K7100 Full Feature Software and Driver

This finding could be in error - if you actually have Full Feature Software that is compatible with Windows 10, don't lose the installation file - if you do not have the Full Feature Software installation file compatible with Windows 10, for now at least, do not uninstall your printer software.

That said, you MIGHT be able to download and install the available software in compatibility mode.

Right-Click on the downloaded installation file > Properties > Compatibility

Check "Run this program in compatibility mode for"

Select Windows 8 (or the closest you can find)

Click Apply and OK to close the Properties menu

Right-Click on the installation file and select to Run as Administrator

General Answer - assuming a compatible setup

Set your Printing Preferences.

If the print driver supports it, you can create a "custom shortcut" from your settings using "Save as" (exacting wording may vary).

Set the Preferences - Windows

  1. The following assumes the Full Feature Software has been installed.
  2. Check / enable the printer as the “Default Printer”
  3. Select and adjust settings in each category for the Media (kind of paper), source (tray), and paper size.

Control Panel > icon view > Devices and Printers > Right-Click on your printer > Set as Default

Control Panel > icon view > Devices and Printers > Right-Click on your printer > Printing Preferences >

Tab Printing Shortcuts > Click / Highlight preferred shortcut > Click Apply > Click OK to exit

If the printer software supports the feature, change the settings as desired, then use “Save as” to create a Custom Shortcut.

OR

Windows key + S (search for) Printers and Scanners

Left-Click on (your) Printer > Manage >

Printing Preferences

Select a shortcut and / or set “preferred settings” for paper, source (tray), other settings

Optional (if / as supported on the printer): Save As > enter a name for your custom shortcut

Click OK to save the preferences

If I could find something better adapted for the current Windows 10 OS, I could perhaps be more specific.

The can print on this media - it is a matter of convincing it to do so.

The User Guide might prove useful - A3 media is mentioned throughout the guide.
