Hi @Mikekuk,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
Try these steps:
Check for Software Updates:
- Ensure your Mac OS and the HP Smart app are fully updated.
- Go to System Preferences > Software Update to check for Mac OS updates.
- Check for updates within the HP Smart app.
Reinstall HP Smart:
- Uninstall the HP Smart app.
- Go to Applications and drag the HP Smart app to the Trash.
- Empty the Trash and restart your Mac.
- Re-download and install the latest version of HP Smart from the Mac App Store.
Reset the Printing System:
- Go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners.
- Right-click (or control-click) in the printer list and select Reset printing system.
- Confirm the reset, which removes all printers and scanners.
- Restart your Mac and re-add your printer through HP Smart or Printers & Scanners.
Download Latest Printer Driver Manually:
- Visit the HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads.
- Enter your printer model and download the latest driver specific to your printer.
- Install the driver following the on-screen instructions.
Check for Firmware Updates:
- Ensure the printer firmware is up-to-date.
- Go to HP Smart > Settings > Printer Maintenance > Update Printer.
Check Printer Connectivity:
- Verify that the printer is connected to your network properly.
- Ensure your Mac and printer are connected to the same WiFi network.
- Run a network diagnostic through HP Smart to ensure there are no connectivity issues.
Printer Configuration:
- Ensure your printer settings (especially regarding sleep mode and auto-off) do not interfere with connectivity:
- Access these settings from the printer’s control panel or HP Smart app.
Clear Printer and Scanner caches (if applicable):
- Clear any temporary files or cached data related to printers:
- Go to Terminal and use commands like sudo periodic daily, sudo periodic weekly, and sudo periodic monthly.
Use Alternative Connection Methods:
- If the issue persists, consider connecting your printer via a USB cable as a temporary solution.
I hope this helps.
