OK can't populate the above as no drop down but here goes. 

Downloaded HP Easy Start but anything but an easy start 🤣 as it can't find the device which is appropriately 3 cms away. Held the red x and WiFi button for 5 seconds (two attempts and fail). So as no touch screen on the printer and connecting to a Mac book what is the solution HP? 🤔

That’s frustrating—HP Easy Start should be making things easier, not harder! Since your printer doesn’t have a touchscreen, here’s how to manually connect it to your MacBook:

Troubleshooting Steps

Reset the Printer’s Network Settings

• Press and hold the Wireless (Wi-Fi) button and Cancel (Red X) button together for 5 seconds.
• Wait for the Wi-Fi light to start blinking—this means the printer is ready for setup.

Connect the Printer to Wi-Fi Using WPS (If Supported)

• Press and hold the Wi-Fi button for 5 seconds until it starts blinking.
• On your router, press the WPS button (usually on the back) within 2 minutes.
• The printer should connect automatically.

Manually Add the Printer on macOS

• Open System Settings > Printers & Scanners.
• Click Add Printer, then select your printer from the list.
• If it doesn’t appear, click IP and enter the printer’s IP address (found in your router settings).

Use HP’s Web-Based Setup

• Open a browser and type 192.168.223.1 (default HP printer IP for Wi-Fi Direct).
• Navigate to Network Settings > Wireless Setup Wizard and connect to your Wi-Fi.
