Just started using my HP 8025E printer yesterday and it printed just fine. Then today it throws out the error "A problem has occurred with your HP account and you will be unable to print until the issue is resolved". I didn't even have an HP account, so I logged in, set one up and connected to the printer and it said the warranty has expired. What happens if I don't want a warranty? I just want to be able to print stuff! The website and tech support are completely unhelpful and I don't see a way to continue without a warranty that I don't want. Should I just get rid of this printer and buy a cheaper one that will actually print when I ask it to? The features on this one are way beyond what I need or want it seems. I just needed something super easy that can print on both sides and does black and white or color ink. I don't need my printer to wirelessly connect to anything and have a subscription package. What happened to printers, goodness! Sorry for the vent but if anyone has insight on a way to proceed without a warranty, I am all ears. I also did already check drivers and all that is up to date. Windows 11 OS.

Hi @NateDawgg3,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding HP Account and Printer Error for HP 8025E!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

Verify HP Account Setup:

  • Ensure that your HP account is fully set up and linked to your printer. You can do this by logging into your account via the HP Smart app and checking the status of your connected devices.

Printer Connectivity:

  • Confirm that your printer is properly connected to your network. You can do this by checking the printer's network settings and ensuring it has a stable connection.

HP Support:

  • Even if you do not wish to avail warranty extensions or HP services, connecting your printer to an HP account is required to manage and use certain features, including Instant Ink or remote printing functions.
  • Verify if there are any critical updates or actions needed for your account to ensure functionality.

System Reset:

  • Try resetting the printer to restore default settings. This process might involve turning the printer off and unplugging it for a few minutes before restarting.

I hope this helps.

Sadly that doesn't help. I did a factory reset of the printer. then reconnected to the printer with my account. Now it is saying "This indicated cartridge cannot be used until printer is enrolled in HP instant Ink" but then only it shows the error that it is unable to print when I login. Wont even print a test page. I am not enrolling in a program that requires me to pay money to use the ink I own in the printer. That is just silly. Is there any way to get around not signing up for instant ink to use my printer? Otherwise I am probably just going to toss this $200 printer in the trash and get a cheap $40 non HP printer that will actually print my documents without jumping through 17 hoops just to print something.

Hi @NateDawgg3,

I completely understand your frustration, thank you for explaining what’s happening. Let me clarify what’s going on with your HP OfficeJet Pro 8025e:

The “e” in your printer model means it’s part of HP’s Instant Ink–enabled (8025e) series. These printers require setup through HP+ with an HP account and remain tied to that account.

The cartridges that come in the box are Instant Ink cartridges, which only work if the printer is enrolled in HP+.

If you don’t want to use HP+, you’ll need to buy standard HP 910/910XL cartridges (non–Instant Ink versions). Once installed, the printer will function normally without requiring an Instant Ink subscription.

If you prefer not to use Instant Ink, purchase standard HP cartridges (non-HP+ / non-Instant Ink). These will work without requiring a subscription.

If you want to continue with the included Instant Ink cartridges, you’ll need to enroll in Instant Ink to activate them, but that’s optional.

So, you don’t need to throw away your printer, you just need the right type of cartridges. The ones that shipped with your 8025e are locked to Instant Ink.

Tip: When buying replacements, look for packaging that does not say “Instant Ink Ready.” Those are the standard cartridges that will let you print freely without a subscription.

I hope this helps.
