HP Laser Jet 1606
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

New Computer a Lenovo Laptop. Home LAN. Downloaded current Full Feature Software. Tried to install LJ 1606 to new computer. Box appears Extracting Files - 100%. Then nothing happens. Installation files do not execute. Waited long time. Nothing. From a generalized search on Web, saw response to look for the most current file that starts with "7z ---" in Temp folder (Run %temp%) Temp folder is in " ---\User\appdata\local\temp." There is no such file there. There are other "7z---" files from other printer installations, not only on this same LAN, but but for other printers on another Home LAN. Other printers installed to this new computer without problem. Installation files executed after extracting without having to go to a Temp folder to find the "7z---" file. Help will be much appreciated.

Welcome to the HP support community.

I understand that you are getting a driver issue, follow these steps to fix the issue.'

Perform root level uninstallation to remove all the printer-related software.

  • In Windows, search for and open Programs and Features.
  • Select your HP printer.
  • Select Uninstall.
  • In Windows, search for and open Devices and Printers.
  • In the Devices and Printers window look for your HP Printer. If you see it listed, right-click on it and choose "Delete" or "Remove Device.”
  • Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo.
  • Type printui.exe /s and click OK.
  • Click on Drivers tab.
  • Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it click on it and click Remove at the bottom.
  • Select OK.
  • Remove all instances of the same.
  • Select Apply and OK on the Print Server Properties windows.
