LaserJet Pro MFP M281fdw

I have a MAC w/ lasest OS - Monterey (12.1) and I've been using my LaserJet Pro MFP M281fdw for years with 3rd party compatible cartridges with no issues ever. I figure I would create an HP account when I recently bought my wife a new HP 2700 printer and HP automatically downloaded a new firmware in Nov/Dec that now BLOCKS my printer cartridges on my M281fdw.

"Indicated cartridges blocked for containing a non-HP chip"

THERE'S NO WAY TO DISABLE TO OVERRIDE THE CARTRIDGE PROTECTION AND TURN IT OFF

I've spent countless hours online. It looks like there's a solution for Desktop users to delete the latest firmware/driver and reload and old Firmware/Driver from June 2020, but it doesn't work for MAC USERS.

I called and spoke to someone at HP customer service and he's aware of the issue as he just got a call about this a couple days ago and he's waiting for a solution from his supervisors.

SOUNDS LIKE THIS IS COMPLETE BS, BECAUSE THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR OVER A YEAR. THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF PISSED OFF CUSTOMERS ALL OVER THE INTERNET ENRAGED ABOUT THIS. I HEARD THERE'S A PENDING CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT FROM 2018 ABOUT THIS.

GET ME SOLUTION FOR MY MAC ASAP

@MikeOC123, Welcome to the HP Support Community! I’m here to help.

HP cannot guarantee the functionality of non-HP ink toners. It may or may not work and can damage the printer too.

This printer is enabled with dynamic security. It is intended to be used only with cartridges with an original HP chip. Cartridges using a non-HP chip might not work, and those that work today may not work in the future. Refilled or remanufactured supplies that still use an Original HP chip will continue to be accepted by the printer.

If you are using a refilled or remanufactured cartridge and wish to continue to do so, then you should check with your cartridge supplier as to whether or not the cartridge has an Original HP chip.

For more info, refer to - Dynamic Security Enabled Printers

Kindly use HP ink toners to resolve this issue. You may visit Hp Store to order compatible ink toners.

Keep me posted for any other assistance.

Are you f'n for real???

I've been using the same compatible 3rd party ink cartridges for years with ZERO ISSUES . HP is blocking the cartridge with the latest firmware. I GO TO TURN OFF THE SECURITY FEATURE AND IT STILL BLOCKS IT. REQUIRING ME TO USE HP CARTRIDGES IS ILLEGAL

GIVE ME A PROPER SOLUTION!

@MikeOC123

I have mentioned the reason why the printer is blocking the non-HP ink toners in my previous post. Kindly read the same.

Also, the solution is to use HP ink toners.

There is no other option to resolve this issue.

Keep me posted for any other assistance with HP products.
