Hello,

Since the firmware update 2025.
In the EWS, option for Updates Settings disappear !

So now i'm stuck with those parameters :

LaserJet Updates Settings

Allow Downgrade:No
Allow Updates:Yes

and unable to downgrade the firmware...

Any solution for this printer who don't have LCD screen (only simple digit LCD) ?

@NikeTM, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
With the latest firmware update, HP has made changes that lock the firmware settings, especially:

“Allow Downgrade: No” (critical)

“Update Settings” missing in EWS (Embedded Web Server)

Options You Can Try:

1. Use HP Smart Admin or HP Print and Scan Doctor (Windows only)

Sometimes HP's tools will allow access to deeper firmware settings:

2. Firmware Recovery Tool (BIOS-level reset - risky)

Some HP printers support firmware flashing via USB (USB Boot Mode). Here's how:

  • Download an older firmware .rfu file for your model.
  • Use a USB cable and send the .rfu file via command line or HP Firmware Utility.
    copy /b firmwarefile.rfu \\printer_ip_address
  • OR put the printer into boot mode (usually done by powering it off, then on while holding a specific key or sequence — often not documented publicly for locked models).

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
