Laser Jet 4200
macOS 11.0 Big Sur

I have a staff member who purchased a new Mac with OS 11 and I can't find a printer driver that will work for our Laser Jet 4200.  HP driver site for this product says to use HP Easy Start or HP Easy Admin but no luck with either.  Does anyone have a solution so I can get this staff member setup to print?  Your time and assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Hi Shlomi,

Thanks for the suggestion but it actually didn't work for me.  When I went to the article in your link, I tried downloading the driver package for OS 11 but I got an error saying the driver was outdated and there was a security issue.

BUT GOOD NEWS, I FOUND ANOTHER OPTION THAT WORKED!!!

Previously when I added the printer, it would show it was ready but whenever something was printed it would say it couldn't communicate with the printer.  I finally got it to work by downloading the most current Mac driver available, even though it didn't say it was OS 11 compatible.  The difference was when I did the install, I changed the protocol to Line Printer Daemon (LPD) and it worked!!!  Did the exact same thing for an older Kyocera copier/printer and worked right away!!!

I hope changing the protocol will work for others too!!
