LaserJet 1022 won't print with Windows 11 unless I pull out USB cable and plug it in for each page

My printer is connected to my Lenovo laptop dock via USB. When I try to print a document, the print order gets sent, but nothing prints until I pull out the USB cable and plug it back in. Then one page prints fine. If I request multiple pages, I must pull the USB cable out and reinsert it for each and every page. The driver installed is the HP LaserJet 1022 ClassDriver. I read that this driver is unstable. I can't see how to get a different driver. The printer works fine with an older lenovo laptop. 

I tried the solution to exact same issue with laserjet 1022 and lenovo laptop

but the link does not have " HP LaserJet Host-based Plug and Play Basic Driver" and the complete package available does not solve the issue.
