The USB driver fro aserjet 2100 is unreliable and wastes time, effort and money. Do we know of a reliable USB driver?

Agreed.

Try the HP Universal PCL 6.  Use the Windows add a printer wizard with it's Windows update option to get much more complete list.  When you get the full list it's confusing with subsections for Helwlet Packard and finally one for HP.  Look at the very bottom of the HP subsection for the HP Universal PCL 6.  Good luck.
