Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)
W10 64 bit does not work with older printers like this since they're 32 bit. I just want to be able to use this old printer in PCL mode with W10.

Any link to download correct drivers?

Thanks!

My Windows 10 Pro 64-bit edition (version 1709) has four built-in drivers (including a PCL 5 one) for the LaserJet 4100 model:

Note that you may have to click the Windows Update button in this Add Printers dialogue, then wait (perhaps for several minutes) whilst additional drivers are downloaded, and the list repopulated.

In what way does your printer not work with Windows 10?

I don't understand your reference to 32-bit - the printer 'understands' a print stream consisting of 'instructions' in one of the supported Page Description Languages (PCL5, PCL6 (PCL XL) or PostScript), none of which know anything about the (32-bit or 64-bit) architecture used on the workstation.

Thanks. Sorry about the late reply. Mine is a W10 Home 64 bit (Version 1709).

I have done the updates several times. I am yet to see HP Laserjet 4100 PCL6 drivers.

My other laptops which use W7 (both 32 and 64bit) have no issues, so I assumed it was the W10 64 bit that was the culprit.

it must be easy enough to set up but why is my W10 struggling?

Solved.

Your suggestion to wait for W10 driver update no matter how long it took, worked!

Also I was addressing the TCP/IP port's third octave with a 1, whereas it was 0 for this manufacturer.

Thanks again

Hi guys,

I have the same issue with my HP-Printer.

My Windows is "Windows 10 Education version 10.0.17134 Build 17134"

The only similar driver which I get after clicking "Windows update" in the "Add printer dialogue" is the "HP LaserJet 4100 PCL 5". However I want to have "HP LaserJet 4100 Series PCL6".

For my Windows 7 computer this worked out pretty easy, but for this Windows 10 Laptop it doesn't seem to work ...

I even tried to download this driver-pack:

https://support.hp.com/sg-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-laserjet-4100-printer-series/83436

Is there anything else I can do to get the correct driver in the "Add printer dialogue"

The 3rd "octave" (actually called octet) should match your LAN (local network's ) addressing. Each octet in a network address is typically between 0 and 254. So if your computer, is 192.168.0.xx, the printer typically needs to be 192.168.0.yy. And your LAN router would then usually (but not always) have an address of 192.168.0.1
