Hi @nspirova,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
If your HP LaserJet MFP M141w printer isn't working when connected via USB, here’s a checklist to help you fix it:
Step-by-Step Troubleshooting
1. Check the USB Cable and the Port
- Make sure the USB cable is securely connected to both the printer and your computer.
- Try a different USB port on your PC.
- Try a different USB cable if you have one — the cable might be faulty.
2. Power Cycle
- Turn off the printer and unplug it.
- Shut down your computer.
- Plug the printer back in and power it on.
- Restart your computer and try again.
3. Install the Latest HP Drivers
- Go to the HP LaserJet MFP M141w Printer Software and Driver Downloads | HP® Support
- Download and install the full feature software and drivers for your operating system.
- After installation, reconnect the USB cable when prompted.
4. Use HP Smart App (Optional but Recommended)
- Download HP Smart - Free download and install on Windows | Microsoft Store.
- Let it detect and install the printer automatically.
5. Check Device Manager (Windows only)
- Press Windows + X > choose Device Manager.
- Look under Printers or Universal Serial Bus Controllers.
- If you see a yellow triangle or "Unknown Device" for the printer:
- Right-click > Uninstall device
- Disconnect the USB and reconnect — Windows should reinstall it properly.
6. Default Printer Check
- Go to Settings > Bluetooth & Devices > Printers & Scanners.
- Make sure the M141w is set as the default.
Try a test print.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
