LASER JET P1102
Other

Hi guys! The LaserJet P1102 USB connection only, stops working after the macOS update to v.15.2. HP support informs that it is no longer providing updates to macOS versions above 15.0. Does anyone know a solution for this case? Thank you!

Hi @JJ102550,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

We understand your concern regarding the HP LaserJet P1102 not functioning via USB after updating to macOS 15.2. Unfortunately, this printer model is no longer supported on macOS versions above 15.0, and no updated drivers are available for newer macOS releases.

. Use AirPrint (if available)

If your LaserJet P1102 is a "w" model (P1102w) with Wi-Fi capability, you can still print using Apple AirPrint:

  1. Connect your printer to the same Wi-Fi network as your Mac.
  2. Go to System Settings > Printers & Scanners.
  3. Click the "+" to add a new printer.
  4. Your printer should appear as "P1102 AirPrint".
  5. Select it and click Add.

Note: Standard P1102 (non-W) does not support AirPrint or Wi-Fi, so this won’t apply.

2. Use HP Printer Drivers v5.1 for macOS (Legacy)

HP’s last universal print driver package for macOS may still work for USB printing in some cases:

👉 HP 5.1.1 Printer Software Update - Apple Support

Install it, then try re-adding your printer via System Settings → Printers & Scanners.

However, this may not work on Sonoma 15.2+ due to updated USB handling by macOS.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
