My LaserJet M283cdw has been randomly printing junk pages.  I've removed printer and Drivers and cleared the printer spool. I went through adding new printer and checked to ensure I have the latest firmware.  Including diconnecting and reconneting wireless. Still getting random pages printing.  I'm currently turning my printer on/off as needed so that I don't get these pages and prevent who/whatever got into my printer from accessing other devices on our wireless network.

Any suggestions to fix?

Thanks

Hi @M283Help,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I can imagine how unsettling it must be to see your HP LaserJet M283cdw randomly printing junk pages, especially when you’ve already tried so many fixes. Let’s walk through a few targeted steps to help you regain control and peace of mind.

1. Reset the Printer

  • Turn off the printer.
  • Unplug it from power for 60 seconds.
  • Plug it back in and power it on. This clears memory and resets communication.

2. Clear the Print Queue and Spooler

You’ve done this already, but here’s the full HP guide just in case: 👉 HP Printers - Unexpected Text Prints (Windows) | HP® Support

3. Reinstall Using Full Feature Software

HP recommends removing the printer and reinstalling it using HP Easy Start: 👉 HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M283cdw Software and Driver Downloads | HP® Support

4. Check for USB or Network Conflicts

If connected via USB:

  • Disconnect the USB cable.
  • Reinstall the printer using HP Easy Start.
  • Reconnect only when prompted.

If connected via Wi-Fi:

  • Ensure your printer is on a secure network.
  • Disable Wi-Fi Direct if not needed.
  • Change your Wi-Fi password if you suspect unauthorized access.

5. Update Firmware

Even if you’ve done this, double-check via HP’s site to ensure the latest version is installed: 👉HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M283cdw Software and Driver Downloads | HP® Support

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
