I need to update the firmware on my HP LaserJet p1102 printer to the latest firmware version. Unfortunately, when I run the Firmware upgrade Utility I get the following error and the utility doesn't run:
“HP Firmware Upgrade Utility” can’t be opened. You should eject the disk image.
I have disabled the firewall and changed the system preferences to "Run any program" but none of these fix the problem. Seems like the utility software is incompatible with MacOS 10.13 and 10.14 (I am running both on two different machines) dispite selecting the appropriate operating system for the firmware version.
How do I update my firmware for my printer?

A warm welcome to HP Forums! This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips to your technical queries.
I believe we can update the printer firmware from the printer EWS page. However, the printer has to be connected to a network.
Are you using HP LaserJet Pro P1102 or HP LaserJet Pro P1102w?
Let me know!

Thanks! Since the printer is connected to your home network, we can use the printer EWS page to update the printer firmware. If the wireless light on the printer is steady, use the steps below to enable Web Services and setup automatic updates.
1.) Use the steps available here to print a device configuration page. Locate the printer IP address or IPv4 address from the device configuration page.
2.) Open a web browser on a connected device and type the printer IP address onto the address bar and hit Enter. The EWS information page for the printer opens.
3.) Click the Web Services tab and click Enable to turn on Web services and automatic updates.
Once web services is enabled, printer will automatically search and install the latest firmware update available for your printer. You can also manually check for updates by clicking Printer Updates or Product Updates.
Let me know how it goes!

Hi Senan,
Thank you for the excellent instructions. I have enabled the web services on the printer as you instructed. I have waited an hour and the firmware has not been automatically updated. I also do not see anywhere to manually initiate the firmware update in the browser.
Here is the screen shot:
Also noticed there is a Show HP Smart Install Download option in the Settings menu. I tried to enable it but it won't turn on. The drop down reverts to "no" after I attempt to apply the change.

I believe the HP LaserJet P1102w does not have a product update option on the EWS page. I'm afraid, we have tried all possible steps tat I could think of. Please call HP Support for further assistance. The following steps should help you get in touch with your regional HP Support:
1) Click on this link.
2) Select your product type below.
3) Enter the serial of your device.
4) Select the country from the drop-down.
5) Select the chat or get phone number options based on your preferences.
6) Fill the web-form and proceed further.
Thanks!
