I have a printer with an identity crisis!

My LaserJet professional P1102w shows as an external hard drive. In the Print & Scan Doctor application, it says that the printer is properly connected; that is clearly not the case. I use Microsoft Office 365 Family Edition. I only want to be able to print - via USB is totally ok, do not care about the wireless option that is on the printer. Have tried all 'normal solutions' such as deleting the printer files and reinstalling these from the HP website, running several HP application like HPPSdr, searching blogs and trying lots of possible solutions.

It looks like the printer itself needs overwriting of its programme, so it knows again that it is a printer and not a hard drive 😉 Yet I have no clue how to do that...

Thanks for your answers!

Do you have a different computer just to plug the printer to see how the 2nd computer will recognise the P1102W?

It sounds like your computer has some identity problems, not the printer.

Hi Valsimot,

I had tried this before and it did not work then. With new drivers that I installed it now seems to work with my HP Envy laptop. so hurray for that!

Is there anything I can do with the - rather old - desk top computer to make it work on that one? It used to work fine, and only since I installed Office 365 it has the problems I wrote above...
