HP LaserJet MFP M139we Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Laserjet 139we that we purchased a couple years ago - couldn't ever get it to work.  Same issues today.

Working through configuration and it nearly gets to finalizing configuration with HP SMART, but then it displays printer setup incomplete and will only print test pages.

The one constant is the ! light is continously blinking - never stops.  I have hard reset to factory settings using up arrow/cancel while turning printer on.  Also, I tried to connect to printer to do a software factory reset using ECW (I think thats it?), but doesn't work either.

I believe this printer is poorly designed and can't be fixed.  I've tried calling HP support, but, why would I continue to talk to someone reading a manual from India who is really trying hard, but, not much help for this $140 printer.  What a waste of time.

This is my last chance- I hope someone can provide a clear conscise solution to clear the ! blinking and fix the config process or this printer is in the dumpster and I'll buy another manufacturers printer.  Fingers crossed - since I was an HP fan for 20 years.

And I do realize this has been approx 2 years since I bought this printer - just thought it would work - but after 2 years, I'm not finding any solutions on the internet nor here.  Almost like it can't be fixed - which I currently believe is the case.

I solved my own issue, but, I'm not sure which piece of HP software was the culprit - granted there are lots of them needed to complete this install.

You must have an account with HP SMART, HP SUPPORT ASSISTANT and I'm not sure which piece of software measures your supplies but, you better have that signon as well.

Run the installation as an ADMIN on the machine you are trying to install it on.  Make sure you have a network to get to the printer.

This is so much more difficult that it should be and I hope HP can do better in the future.  I'm an old IT technical person and if it were up to me, I would return this to get something that doesn't need all the additional software/signons/accounts and the general HASSLE FACTOR to install this $140 printer.  A printer should be easy to install (This one isn't).  It should NOT require 2 or 3 accounts with signons for each and hoping you have all the accounts opened so the software can progress through the install process or you're screwed, and probaly have to start over again from the beginning.

So sad for people buying this product that can't figure it out - my sympathies to you all.
