Laserjet Pro M14

Hi community,

after firmware update, my Laserjet Pro M14 is dead. Update went smoothly, but after restart, power-lamp and orange exclamation mark are flashing simulaneously. No communication at all, neither WiFi nor USB. Need to go back to the former firmware, but due to inaccessibility of the printer I don´t know how to do. Is there any way to force the printer to re-flash  the firmware?

Hi @Karl-Emil,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing issues with your HP Laserjet Pro M14 after a firmware update. While it can be challenging to address such problems, here are some general steps you can try.

Power Cycle the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Wait for a few minutes.
  • Plug it back in and turn it on.

Factory Reset (if possible):

  • Some printers have a factory reset option. Check your printer's manual or documentation to see if there's a way to perform a factory reset.

HP Firmware Recovery Tool:

  • HP may have a firmware recovery tool for your printer model. Visit the official HP support website, enter your printer model, and look for any available firmware recovery tools.

Downgrade Firmware (if possible):

  • Some printers allow users to downgrade firmware. Check if there's an option in your printer's settings to revert to a previous firmware version.

USB Firmware Update:

  • If possible, try connecting the printer to your computer via USB and attempt a firmware update through the USB connection.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Hello Alden4,

thank you very much for taking care of my problem.

However, all these hints don't help:

* power cycle does not change anything

* factory reset is only possible via interface (USB or Wifi). As both paths are not working, reset is impossible for me

* firmware recovering tool: apparently not existing for this model, and moreover, it would not help, because neither USB nor Wifi is working after the firmware update

*update/downgrade firmware: how can I do it now that the firmware update has left the printer unaccessible via USB and Wifi?

Thanks for any more ideas - kind regards

Hello Alden4,

thanks for your reply. The printer is out of warranty, so it might be cheaper to buy a new one rather than sending it for repair. However, thanks for your attention, and have a good time as well! Kind regards

Karl-Emil
