I received an HP Laserjet 100 color MFP M175nw unit from a friend who upgraded and I can't install it to work wirelessly. I get to the Install part where you 'temporarily' connect with USB to let product find wireless info (even tried the "manually enter" option) and it hangs at 15% complete and reports its "Unable to communicate with product" even though the unit is still on and status is ready. And, the blue ((i)) button is flashing constantly. I can get it to work plugged in, but I want to be able to connect to my phone to print things too. Would my firewall be blocking anything? Ive unintalled everything and started over several times as well. Super frustrating.

Hi @Jaylow88,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing difficulties with installing your HP LaserJet 100 color MFP M175nw wirelessly. There are several potential reasons for this issue, and I'll provide you with some troubleshooting steps to help you resolve it.
Check Network Connection:
- Ensure that your printer is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your computer and smartphone.
- Make sure the Wi-Fi signal is stable and strong.
Firewall Settings:
- Check your firewall settings to ensure that they are not blocking the communication between your computer and the printer.
- Temporarily disable the firewall and attempt the installation again to see if it makes a difference.
USB Connection:
- Ensure that the USB cable you are using is in good condition.
- Try a different USB port on your computer.
- Restart the installation process with the USB cable and check if it progresses past the 15% mark.
Driver and Software:
- Download the latest drivers and software for your printer from the official HP website.
- Uninstall any existing HP software on your computer before reinstalling the latest version.
Firmware Update:
- Check if there is a firmware update available for your printer on the HP support website. If so, update the firmware.
Printer Reset:
- Perform a factory reset on the printer to clear any previous configurations. Refer to your printer's manual for instructions on how to do this.
Network Configuration:
- Ensure that your Wi-Fi network is using WPA (Wi-Fi Protected Access) security. Some printers may have issues with WEP or WPA2.
Router Settings:
- Check your router settings to see if there are any restrictions or filters that could be affecting the communication between devices.
HP Print and Scan Doctor:
- Download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor utility from the HP website. It can help identify and resolve common printing issues.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
