Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

The driver for my Color Laserjet M254nw is not installing correctly.

I have tried to install driver with different HP tools, 123.hp.com/laserjet, etc. but always end with the printer showing that the driver was not installed or not available.

Printer works with Airprint and I can also open the webserver. I have tried a factory reset of the printer, but nothing helps.

Hope someone can help.

Welcome to HP support community.

Did you uninstall the printer from root level?

If not, follow the below steps:

Perform root level uninstallation to remove all the printer related software's.

  • In Windows, search for and open Programs and Features.
  • Select your HP printer.
  • Select Uninstall.
  • In Windows, search for and open Devices and Printers.
  • In the Devices and Printers window look for your HP Printer. If you see it listed, right-click on it and choose "Delete" or "Remove Device.”
  • Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo.
  • Type printui.exe /s and click OK.
  • Click on Drivers tab.
  • Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it click on it and click Remove at the bottom.
  • Select OK.
  • Remove all instances of the same.
  • Select Apply and OK on the Print Server Properties windows.
  • Close Devices and Printers.
  • Restart the PC again.

Download and run printer full feature driver

Click here to download the driver.

I hope that helps.

Thanks for the advice. I maneged to get the old drivers removed. I clicked on the link and started the installation program, but it was not possible to find the printer with USB cable or when trying the IP address.

So I tried again with 123.hp.com/laserjet and succesfully got the driver installed, but now get a printer error. No matter what I try to print, it shows an error.

If I then try to install the printer with 123.hp.com/laserjet, but connected with a USB cable, it works. So it seems to be happening when I install it as a network printer. Something with my computer? I am running Win10 Pro, 64 bit

Thanks & regards

Jesper
