Laserjet P3015
Microsoft Windows 11

Have had a Laserjet P3015 on our network for a long  time. Network (wired) used to be one computer Windows 10, one computer Windows 7, one laptop Windows 10. The Laserjet was used by all 3 machines without incident. Now added new machine, Windows 11 to network.

All four computers will print to our Color Laserjet CP3525, wired network connection.

Only the old Windows 7 computer will print to the P3015.

Running the HP Print and Scan Doctor from the Windows 11 machine, it sees the P3015 PCL6 Class Driver, at the correct network address that is also reported on the configuration page generated by the printer. P&S Dr. shows the status of the P3015 with a blue check mark as "Installed".

If I then select the P3015 and click on the Next button, P&S Dr. reports that it cannot connect with the machine. I have tried power cycling both the router and printer, same behavior afterwards.

So, aside from maybe connecting the P3015 via USB to one of the machines instead of to the router (would need a USB long cable with booster due to distance), does anyone have some idea as to how to fix this?

Class drivers are a Microsoft driver and I  would suggest that connecting the printer using a standard tcp ip port and use the HP Universal Printer Driver.

Thanks. I went through all of this, and although it seems that the P3015 is now installed as a network printer via the Windows 11 machine, using the HP UPD.  It now appears on the device list on  this computer as well, and its Properties show that it is shared.

1.) If I try to print to it from the Windows 11 machine, jobs never get past being queued.

2.) It does not show up on the Windows 10 machine as an available networked printer at all.

3.) The Windows 7 box still finds it and prints to it.

So, still stuck, I guess.

I would suspect network or computer issues over issues with the printer. If it works with the Windows 7 then the printer is less likely the culprit.

Well, you just never know, I guess. I unplugged the printer from the network and plugged it into a nearby Windows 11 machine via USB. The printer was able to be added, and once installed, could be printed to normally.

I suspected that maybe the JetDirect card had gone wonky. But then I recalled that years ago we had reconfigured the printer when working with our wired network connections. I did a cold reset on the P3015 (hold in OK button while memory count proceeds, etc.) and then tried to add it to the Windows 11 computer via the usual "Add a printer" dialog, after having removed the previous P3015 printers that could not be reached. Installed normally, toggled on the sharing, and voila - a normal network printer! It now can be seen and printed to by both the Windows 11 and 10 machines.
