Suddenly, my Laserjet Pro M281cdw started to show 49 Service error. I did the usual shut down, restart but continued to get the same error.
I first tied a reset, but it didn't help.
I updated the firmware to the latest version 20220414 but it didn't help. I tried to reinstall the latest driver Full_Webpack-44.11.27814-LJM278-M281_UWWWL_4_1_Full_Webpack.exe and the install failed with this message: Call to DriverPackageInstall returned error -536870329
There were no solutions at HP and searching on the forum it said to try to update Windows 11 and get the HP driver there from the update, but none were offered.
Any suggestions to install the full web pack?
I'm using the lame HP Smart as a workaround, but it is lacking the features of the full webpack.

Hi @GibMacs,
Welcome to the HP support community.
I understand that you are getting 49 service errors. I'd like to help!
You’ve done an excellent job of diagnosing the issue from your end. Superb effort and spectacular research were done as well. Kudos to you on that score. I take it as a privilege to share this platform with you.
We may have to perform a reset and see how it goes.
The reset instructions are specific for your printer and performing those steps on a different printer may brick the device.
I've sent you a private message with reset instructions, follow the reset instruction to perform a full reset and re-initialize the printer.

Reset did not resolve the problem.
Since I could not install the full webpack, I tried the PCL6 driver and that worked.
This shouldn't be so difficult and only occurred because "a more recent driver" was available and that started the problem.
