I am trying to install a P1102 on a Windows 10 PC via USB - result is that Properties for printer shows the print driver as installed - but a missing EWS driver. Using hp_LJP1100_P1560_P1600_Full_Solution-v20120831-50157036_SMO.exe%MCEPASTEBIN% - it never finds the printer - although it is visible in "Devices and Printers". Can you please advise me on a possible solution?

Let's try the following steps:

Unplug the USB and remove any existing HP printer from Devices and Printers.

Right-click the Start menu and select Run, then paste the following and press OK:

printui /s /t2

Remove any listed HP printer and select the 2nd option to remove both the printer driver and its package.

Next, reinstall the latest software below:

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software13/COL32431/bi-80329-11/hp_LJP1100_P1560_P1600_Full_Solution-...

If no installation starts after the install extraction, right-click the Start button, select Run, paste the following and press OK to start the installation:

C:\LJP1100_P1560_P1600_Full_Solution\HpSetup.exe

Only plug the USB while the installation asks to do so and then check for any difference.

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Let's run the HP Print and Scan Doctor:

Use this link for details on using the HP Print and Scan doctor: https://hp.care/2JyaC93

If the issue persists, let's do a root uninstall and reinstall of the software:

Unplug any USB cable, if any, before doing this.

1.) In Windows, search for and open Programs and features

2.) Select your HP Printer

3.) Select Uninstall

4.) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers

5.) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose 'Delete' or 'Remove Device'

6.) Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo.

7.) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between “printui.exe” and “/s”)

8.) Click on the "Drivers" tab

9.) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom

10.) Select Ok

11.) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows

12.) Close Devices and Printers

13.)  Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo.

14.) Type c:/programdata and click Ok. Go to Hewlett Packard folder, remove any printer related folders & files.

15.) Restart the computer.

Once done, please download and install the software from here:

Hi again, I have followed all the steps as recommended - and unfortunately the problem remains unchanged.. I am attaching screenshots of the drivers after the process, and it remains the same as before. Can you please see if this shows anything that can assist resolving the issue?

Hi,

Please also try following the HP Smart Install Control Utility and disable the HP Smart Install feature:

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software12/COL53550/lj-129224-1/LJP1100_P1560_P1600_SI_Utility.exe

As soon as disabling the feature, restart the printer and check for any difference.

EWS Driver errors with HP LaserJest P1102-SmartInstall disabled.jpg

Hi, Thank you for the advise, have done that, restart the porinter and the PC, unfortunately nothing changed - the status is as per the previsous screenshots - with the EWS driver missing. I.e. exactly the same as before. Is there a way to install the EWS driver without Smart Install?
