Notice received from iMac that a future upgrade will not be compatible with a legacy extension from developer "HP.com, contact developer to update the extension". Have reviewed numerous videos and haven't found anything on this problem. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thank you.

HP Easy Start downloaded. Described as a means to setup scanner and printer. From applications this opened and again, nothing in the upper dock, and no dropdown box to open and show the "Uninstall" button as the included photo shows.
If the present drivers are uninstalled, does then printer still work? Confused how uninstalling the printer drivers is related to legacy extensions?

Thank you for your response, @Thomas1748.
Thank you for getting back to us. I understand the confusion, and I’m happy to clarify.
The macOS warning you received is about a legacy system extension that macOS will no longer support in future updates. These extensions were used in older HP drivers but are now being replaced with newer, more compatible software.
Uninstalling the old drivers can help remove the legacy extension, and installing the latest software (like HP Easy Start) ensures you have the most up-to-date, compatible version.
To answer your question: If you uninstall the current drivers, your printer will still work as long as you install the new, compatible drivers afterward. macOS also has built-in AirPrint support, which allows basic printing and scanning without HP software.
Since you mentioned HP Easy Start didn’t show the expected options, try these steps:
1. Manually Uninstall HP Software
>Go to System Settings > Printers & Scanners
>Select your HP printer and click Remove (-)
>Check Applications > HP and move any HP-related software to the Trash
>Restart your Mac
2. Reinstall with HP Easy Start
>Download the latest version from HP website
>Run the setup and follow the on-screen instructions
I hope this helps!

Max3aj,
Thank you for the rework suggestions. All suggestions have been followed. HP Easy Start downloaded and everything checks out OK. Only one problem. My scanner will no longer connect with my iMac. When I go to HP Utilities, click on "enable scan to computer" I get the following dialog box:Communication Error. Unable to communicate with driver. Check cables and connection settings. If problem persists try restarting printer and computer. I have completed all of these suggestions, but the scanner is now having a hiccup.
Checked for upgrade for drivers/ firmware, everything is up-to-date per the check.
Next?
Thanks,
Thomas
