HP CarePack Services sold me Lifetime Webroot protection 3 years ago.  Was this a scam?  I receive Webroot messages that my subscription expired, but paid HP CarePack a lot of money for lifetime protection.  I need to know whether I should transfer this subscription to my new computer.  Thank you.

Hi @Dayna-Mom,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your Care Pack!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I totally get your concern, and I’m happy to help clear things up for you.

To clarify a bit, Webroot is an antivirus software, similar to others like Quick Heal or Kaspersky, designed to protect your system from viruses, malware, and other online threats.

On the other hand, HP Care Pack Services usually refer to extended warranties, repairs, and support services, not antivirus subscriptions. If Webroot was offered along with your Care Pack, it may have been a limited-time offer or a bonus and not actually "lifetime" protection (as antivirus vendors typically operate on a subscription basis).

Here’s what you can do:

Log in or register your Webroot account at https://my.webrootanywhere.com to check your subscription status.

If the subscription has indeed expired, you may need to renew it separately or consider transferring a valid subscription (if available) to your new computer.

I hope this helps.

I'm glad I could help! 😊 If this resolved your issue, please mark it as "Accepted Solution" and click "Yes" on "Was this reply helpful?" Your feedback not only keeps us going but also helps others find the solution faster! 👍

Kuroi, thank you for your reply. However, in 2021 when registering my printer, I was connected with HP Care Pack Services, who sold me LIFETIME services ($825 plus $200 in 2022) for Network Firewall & LIFETIME Webroot. I received a confirmation email for these services. I am concerned that I was scammed. During the past few years, I would get a popup that "my Webroot subscription has expired". When clicking on this popup, it was directing me to a Best Buy Webroot site (not HP Care), so I closed it.

@Dayna-Mom, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you so much for posting your query! My colleague @Kuroi_Kenshi is currently out, but don't worry – I’ll be taking over and making sure we get this sorted for you.

I’m glad you closed the popup, as it seems suspicious that it directed you to a third-party site instead of HP Care.

For your peace of mind, I recommend purchasing any official HP Care Pack services directly from the official HP website. This ensures you receive genuine support and services. Additionally, I suggest contacting HP directly to clarify the status of your original service agreement.

Also please refer to the below link to check the warranty status.

I truly hope these steps help get things back on track. If you have any questions or need any further clarification, just let me know – I’m happy to guide you through it and make sure everything works perfectly.

Take care, and I hope you have an amazing day ahead! 😊

Problem solved? 🎉 That’s fantastic! If you could mark this as the Accepted Solution, it would help others find their way here faster. And if you found this helpful, a simple ‘yes’ would mean a lot – it makes my day and gives this reply a little street cred! 🏅
