I am a teacher and I have just recently purchased an HP printer for my classroom. Because of Wi-Fi settings and security I cannot connect to the internet. I use my USB cable directly to the printer for printing but I would like to get on the instant ink program. My understanding is I won't be able to do that without having Wi-Fi. Is there any kind of work around for this?

Unfortunately, the answer is No.

Instant Ink requires that the printer be available for monitoring of the service.

The Web Services connection is also used when the printer notifies the service (that) supplies are depleted and a shipment of ink is needed.

Your new printer might (can likely) support Wi-Fi Direct eliminating the necessity of using a USB cable --

Still, though...

Wi-Fi Direct does not connect the printer to the Internet and cannot support Instant Ink.

Should Wi-Fi Direct be supported by your printer, the "how-to" is explained in the printer's user guide.
