I purchased this printer secondhand at Goodwill and the hardware is cloud-locked to a previous owner's account. I need a cloud ownership transfer.

Hi @Cheonma

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query.

I understand that you would like to change the ownership as it still shows the old owner account details and you would like to change it. I would request you to please follow the steps:

Remove Printer from Previous Account

If the printer is still registered to the previous owner's account, you need to disassociate it from that account. Unfortunately, you can't directly contact the previous owner, but you can try the following steps:

Factory Reset the Printer:

  • Access the Menu: On the printer's control panel, look for the setup or settings menu.
  • Find Factory Reset: Navigate to the Factory Reset or Restore Defaults option. This should remove all settings, including the previous account association.
  • Confirm Reset: Follow the prompts to confirm and execute the factory reset.

Remove Printer from HP Connected Account:

  • Access HP Connected: Visit the HP Connected website or use the HP Smart app.
  • Sign In: Log in with your HP account credentials.
  • Remove Printer: If the printer is listed in your account, remove it from your account. If it’s not listed, proceed to the next steps.

Reconnect the Printer

After resetting the printer, try setting it up again:

Reconnect to Network:

  • Follow Setup Instructions: Use the printer’s control panel to reconnect it to your Wi-Fi network. Refer to the printer's manual for specific instructions on connecting to Wi-Fi.

Add Printer to HP App https://www.hp.com/us-en/hp-app/overview.html

  • Open HP APP Open the HP App on your computer or mobile device.
  • Add Printer: Click Add Printer and follow the prompts to add the printer to your account.

Hope this helps, Please revert if the issue persists. Also share me the picture of the error displayed.

Take care and have an amazing day!

I'm an HP Employee.
