HP Photosmart 6520
Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

Hi

I had my printer connected to the PC but the last few days have been problematic. It is constantly saying my printer is offline which it is not.

I have gone into Device manger and it cannot recognise my printer at all.

I am sure I have had this problem a long time ago and I had to input th printers IP address but I just can't remember where the input needs to go.

All our mobile devices work well with the printer.

Any help would be grateful received.

Many  thanks

Steve

Welcome to HP Support Forums. 🙂

I understand that you have an HP Photosmart 6520 e-All-in-One Printer and it appears to be offline. The printer is not detected in the Device Manager. And other devices seem to communicate with the printer fine. Fabulous analysis. Spectacular diagnosis of the issue before posting. Kudos to you for that.

I would like to know the following information to assist you better:

  • Did any software changes or updates happen on the computer through which the printer is not being detected?

So if the printer works fine from other devices in the network, then it indicates towards a drivers issue.

I suggest you to download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor software. This program will detect and fix any printer driver related issue.

If the issue still persists then let us uninstall the printer drivers from the root level and then reinstall them back using the below steps:

  • In Windows, search for and open Programs and Features.
  • Select your HP printer.
  • Select Uninstall.
  • In Windows, search for and open Devices and Printers.
  • In the Devices and Printers window look for your HP Printer. If you see it listed, right-click on it and choose "Delete" or "Remove Device.”
  • Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo.
  • Type printui.exe /s and click OK.
  • Click on Drivers tab.
  • Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it click on it and click Remove at the bottom.
  • Select OK.
  • Select Apply and OK on the Print Server Properties windows.
  • Close Devices and Printers.

Now, you may download and install the drivers from this link.

I sincerely hope this fixes the issue. Please feel free to let me know the results. Cheers!
