I use SimpleScan, correction, have used for years on 2 different printers. Now I have a new 9130e.
The software finds the printer on the network, is able to initiate the page feed, or if a page is placed directly on the scanning glass, to make the scanner internals to make noise.
In other words, everything appears to be working, from the outside.
However, nothing actually gets scanned.
I had Linux mint 22 when I got the printer. Couldn't get any version of HPLIP to work. No printing or scanning.
Linux mint is based on Ubuntu, so maybe a different one will work, so installed MX-23, based off Debian Bookworm edition.
Printing didn't appear to work, but a print test page rolled off the printer. Printing seems to be working, mostly as expected. EXCEPT, a new page being printed takes 2 - 4 minutes after initiating the printout before the printer actually does something, then the pages come flying out.
Back to scanning, scan to a USB memory stick. 1st try and the scan went on the memory stick.
Hooray, at least I have a way to scan and email it.
That was the last and only scan I have been able to do. USB Scan any more.
