HP Smart Tank 5102

I am trying to help a friend connect her Linux Mint laptop wirelessly to her HP 5102 printer.  HP says they do not provide a Linux network driver for this printer.  USB cable connection is not possible in her situation.  HPLIP did not work from either repository or HP downloads on this Lenovo Ideapad.   How do we get the printer to communicate wirelessly with this printer?

Since HP does not make a Linux driver for the 5102, will IPP generic protocol work over wireless?
