I cannot access the EWS although I know the password as the error " login ip address is Protected." comes up. I cannot adjust any settings. It the same via network or WiFi direct even though the ip. addresses are diffent. I am the original owner in a private house - not office, no one else has access. Any suggestions? Cannot find way to restore factory settings or remove block through USB connection etc. . What is the purpose of this feature. Very frustrated, needless hours wasted,, 😖

Hi @DoonS ,
You should connect the USB cable, then be sure to select the USB Device from the devices pane in the side, then you may access the Network Settings and click on Clear Settings.
The error you describe is given due to accessing it from the software for the wireless device, not tue USB one.

Hi,
Please try using admin (all lower-case) among your selected password and check.
If it fails, you may clear the network settings from within the HP Easy Printer Manager software with a temporary USB connection, then reconnect the printer to the network using HP Smart (click the Plus sign and then Add Printer, then follow the steps on screen) from any wireless-connected device, it should be very similar to below steps:

Hi Shlomi - thanks for replying so quickly.
I tried your suggestions -
- admin logon is the one that is blocker with the IP protected message
- I used easy printer manager and for advanced setting sit directs me to the printers Embedded Web Server - which is blocked by the IP protected message
I cannot find a way to get the printer back to factory settings. Even if I use the USB connection and redo the network settings it only gives me access to basic settigns and all the advanced settings are blocked behind the IP protected message.
I am not able to change many settings ( including for wifi direct password) that I would like to because they are behind the" IP protected" wall.
A firmware download is available on the HP support webpage . ALthough I am not sure how to install it. But would that clear this IP protected message block to access?
I am curious to the purpose of this " IP protected " feature. It seems to permanently lock me out from making adjustments to settings and if the settings were not working would end up making the whole printer useless.

Hi Shlomi
The devices pane did not find the USB connection although the printer was connected to USB. 30 mins trying everything
I had to do the following
uninstalled HP easy printer manager
turned off the PC wifi and ethernet
reinstalled HP easy printer manager
connected the printer with USB. THe reinstalled HP easy manager programme found it. PC wifi and ethernet were still dosconnected so i was sure it was the USB connection
then I could as you say reset the network settings and reset to defaults. It does not reset everything ( such as password on WIFI Direct) but it DID REMOVE THE PROTECTED LOGIN IP ADDRESS - the problem was fixed.
I cannot put in my wifi settings through the USB ( as the printer was set up as USB connection it said Wifi was not installed) so I disconnected the USB and turned on my computer wifi and connected to the printers set up wifi and made the settigns there using easy printer manager
But now there are two instances of the same printer on my computer and the easy manager keeps tring to send print jobs to the USB which is not there as USB was temporary. Easy printer manager would not let me delete the USB instance.
I had to exit easy printer manage, go to windows settings and delete the printer there.
I shall uninstall easy printer manager now as well as it is just making problems and it does not let me delete the USB printer.
A WARNING TO OTHER USERS : "PROTECT LOGIN IP" OPTION HAS NO WARNING ON THE SETUP PAGE OF THE WASTE OF TIME IT WILL MAKE. DO NOT SELECT IT. YOU CANNOT GET INTO THE ADMIN SETTINGS AGAIN WITHOUT HUGE PROCEDURE.
Thanks you for your help
