I have a Samsung SL-M2830DW Laser printer.  I logged in to the printer using the SyncThru Web service.
I attempted to set up the printer on a static IP.  Unfortunately I checked the Protect IP address.

I changed the IP, and set the password. (or so I thought).

The IP address did not change, and the password that I set does not work.
I tried the default settings     admin/sec00000   but that didn't work either.
Uninstalling and reinstalling the software failed as well.

How do I reset the printer to factory defaults?

This forum has some similar posts but when i click on them I get a 404 web page not found.
I cannot find anything in the manual to resolve this.

Help!!!

Hi @wizardnco,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your Samsung SL-M2830DW printer is currently inaccessible because the IP is protected and the password you set isn’t working. Let’s go through the steps to reset it to factory defaults.

Power On the Printer
Make sure the printer is turned on and there are no ongoing print jobs.

Access the Control Panel
On the printer’s front panel, press the Menu button.

Navigate to Network Settings

Use the arrow keys to select Network and press OK.

Scroll to Network Reset or Reset Network Settings (the exact wording may vary) and press OK.

Confirm the Reset

When prompted, select Yes to confirm the network reset.

The printer will restart automatically.

Reset All Settings (Optional Full Factory Reset)

If you want to reset everything (including IP, passwords, and preferences), go to Menu > System Setup > Reset > Reset All.

Confirm with OK and allow the printer to reboot.

Reconnect to the Printer

After reset, the IP should return to DHCP (automatic IP assignment).

Use the SyncThru Web Service or the printer software to reconnect to the printer.

Default credentials are usually: ID: admin / Password: sec00000

Set Static IP Carefully

Once you regain access, if you want a static IP, make sure to uncheck any IP protection options before saving changes.

I hope this helps.

Your answer is not accepted.

Your advice is not applicable to this model.  Look at the manual.  There is NO LCD to display any menu.

There is no control panel.  The only way to get to any menu is through web access.

The problem is that I cannot log in because of the "IP is Protected" message.

Here is what would be helpful:

1. A way to do a factory reset the printer's internal settings.  Maybe a program that will access the reset  via USB.
2. A way to turn off IP protection on the printer via combination of the buttons that I do have access to.

3. An account that is not subjet to the Protected IP rules. (like a backdoor account/password combination)

It seems to me that making a printer that you can lock but not unlock is pretty stupid.
