Photosmart C7250

An Older printer that I want to use on Windows 11.  HP says no help since it's been retired!

Hi @brucegray

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Thanks for explaining the situation—and I’m really sorry HP no longer supports this model directly. The Photosmart C7250 was a solid performer, and it’s understandable you’d want to keep it going.

Here’s how you can try getting it working on Windows 11:

Option 1: Use HP’s legacy driver package

  • Visit the official HP support page for your printer:
    HP Photosmart C7250 Driver Downloads
  • Select Windows 10 (64-bit) as your operating system.
  • Download the Full Feature Software and Driver package.
  • Right-click the installer and choose Properties > Compatibility.
  • Check Run this program in compatibility mode for Windows 10, then install.

This method often works because Windows 11 shares much of its driver architecture with Windows 10.

Option 2: Use Windows built-in driver

  • Connect the printer via USB or ensure it’s on the same network.
  • Go to Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners.
  • Click Add a printer or scanner.
  • If Windows detects it, choose Add device.
  • If not, click The printer I want isn’t listed, then select Add a local printer or network printer with manual settings.
  • Choose Use an existing port, then HP Photosmart C7200 series from the driver list.

Let me know how it goes.
