Looking for a driver for old Photosmart C7250

Hi @okies335

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I understand how inconvenient it feels when an older printer like the Photosmart C7250 doesn’t show a clear driver option for Windows 11. You’ve already taken the right step by checking HP’s driver library, so let’s go through the most effective ways to get it working again.

The Photosmart C7250 does not have a dedicated Windows 11 driver. Instead, you can install it using the built‑in Windows drivers or the basic software package available on HP’s support site.

Step 1: Use Windows Built‑in Driver

  • Connect the Photosmart C7250 to your PC via USB or network.
  • Open Settings > Devices > Printers & scanners.
  • Select Add a printer or scanner.
  • Windows should automatically detect the printer and install the Photosmart C7200 series driver (this is the generic driver included with Windows).

Step 2: Download HP Software Package

HP provides a universal driver package for the Photosmart C7200 series. You can find it here:
HP Photosmart C7250 Drivers and Software

  • Choose Windows 10 (64‑bit) as the operating system if Windows 11 is not listed.
  • Download the Driver – Product Installation Software package.
  • Run the installer; it will add the printer using the compatible driver.

Step 3: Add Printer Manually (if needed)

  • Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
  • Select Add a printer.
  • Choose The printer I want isn’t listed.
  • Select Add a local printer or network printer with manual settings.
  • From the driver list, scroll to HP and select Photosmart C7200 series.

Step 4: Use HP App for Diagnostics

  • Install the HP App for Windows (hp.com).
  • Open the app, add your Photosmart C7250, and run Diagnose & Fix.
  • This will check for missing drivers and apply corrections automatically.

Key Notes

  • Windows 11 uses the same driver base as Windows 10, so the Photosmart C7200 series driver will work.
  • You don’t need a separate Windows 11 download; the universal package or built‑in driver is sufficient.
  • If the printer is connected via Wi‑Fi, ensure it is on the same network as your PC before adding it.

By following these steps, your Photosmart C7250 should be restored to full functionality on Windows 11.
