Hi @klfdc55,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd be glad to help you!
If your HP OfficeJet Pro 9015e is asking for a printer password during scan setup, here are steps to find or reset it:
1. Default Printer Password
Default Wi-Fi Direct Password:
- The default Wi-Fi Direct password for many HP printers is usually found on a label on the printer itself. Look for a sticker that shows the Wi-Fi Direct name and password.
Printer’s Information Report:
- You can print a network configuration or information report directly from the printer which often includes the Wi-Fi Direct or printer password:
- On the printer’s control panel, navigate to Settings > Reports > Network Configuration Report.
2. Accessing the Embedded Web Server (EWS)
Find the Printer’s IP Address:
- On the printer’s control panel, go to Settings > Network Settings > Wi-Fi Direct or Wireless Settings to find the IP address.
Open the EWS:
- Enter the IP address into a web browser on your computer to access the printer's Embedded Web Server (EWS).
Login to the EWS:
- If prompted for a username and password:
- Username: Often left blank or try "admin".
- Password: If you have not set a custom password, it might be the default one (refer to the network configuration report). If a password was set and forgotten, you may need to reset it via the EWS.
Locate Password Settings:
- In the EWS, navigate to Security or Administrator Settings to view or reset the password.
3. Resetting the Printer to Factory Defaults
If you are unable to retrieve or remember the password:
- Reset Printer:
- On the printer’s control panel, go to Settings > Printer Maintenance > Restore Factory Defaults.
- This will reset the printer’s settings, including the password, to factory defaults.
4. Check Your HP Account (if set up with HP Smart)
- If your printer was set up using HP Smart, sometimes the password can be managed or reset through your HP account associated with the HP Smart app.
These steps should help you find or reset the printer password needed for scan setup.
If you're still unable to locate or reset the password, We need to perform a semi-full reset to restore the printer back to its original settings.
The reset instructions are specific to your printer and performing those steps on a different printer may brick the device.
I've sent you a private message with reset instructions, follow the reset instructions to perform a full reset and re-initialize the printer.
