My hp 2620 (18 months old) printer worked fine by wireless when i ran windows 7 on my toshiba laptop, and in fact works ok with my wife's hp laptop. I now have a hp pavilion running windows 10 and although i can print wirelessly i cannot get info such as ink levels and cannot scan now, all due to the change of laptop and change from windows 7 to 10.

Welcome to HP forums.

Run the Print and Scan Doctor

Download and run HP Print and Scan Doctor  to automatically diagnose and resolve printer hardware and connection issues.

After the Print and Scan Doctor opens, click Fix Scanning to test your scanner, and then follow any instructions to resolve the issue.

Perform root level uninstallation to remove all the printer related software's.

  • In Windows, search for and open Programs and Features.
  • Select your HP printer.
  • Select Uninstall.
  • In Windows, search for and open Devices and Printers.
  • In the Devices and Printers window look for your HP Printer. If you see it listed, right-click on it and choose "Delete" or "Remove Device.”
  • Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo.
  • Type printui.exe /s and click OK.
  • Click on Drivers tab.
  • Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it click on it and click Remove at the bottom.
  • Select OK.
  • Remove all instances of the same.
  • Select Apply and OK on the Print Server Properties windows.
  • Close Devices and Printers.
  • Restart the PC again.

Download and install printer full feature driver

Click here to download the driver.

Sorry, still in trouble. (1) when i try FIX SCANNING the action sticks at the HP TWAIN SCAN box. (2) when i open the printer user interface Windows key + R, then printui/exe) there is well over 100 lines, there is no drivers tab. Would appreciate your further help.

Still a problem. I removed the HP Driver and Help software. I reinstalled the driver software and this time was able to launch HP Smart and communicated with the printer (e.g. scan and check ink levels). But when I shut down the communication is not re-established on restarting. The Network Device Installation window gives the error message Network Device Unsuccessful. It's a bit ironic that I have a pretty new HP printer and a brand new HP laptop that won't talk to each other, which I suspect is due to the Windows 10 software. Would appreciate further support.

Further to my earlier reply I have been able to get the printer working with a usb cable. I removed all software again and the reloaded the software. The printer will not work wirelessly though. I still get the Network Installation Unsuccessfull message.

My printer is connected to the internet, because its print status is fully up to date on my HP InstantInk account, and this morning I printed out a sheet wirelessly, by using my wife's HP Pavilion. Both my wife's (18 months old) Pavilion and my (new) Pavilion are on the same network. Would be grateful for your help with the next step.
