HP Smart Tank 6001 All-in-One
Mac OS X 10.7 Lion

Hi,

So, my Wi-Fi got disconnected over the weekend, and before realizing that the issue was not related to my browser, I decided to reset my router. When I did this, my printer got disconnected from my Wi-Fi, and now it won't let me reconnect. The wifi signal has been blinking blue, but it will not let me press i and then Wifi + x to reset it.

I have tried to unplug it and plug it back in.

Any tips on how to fix this?

@theamd426, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
When your router is reset, your printer may lose its saved Wi-Fi credentials, especially if the network name (SSID) or password changed. Let's walk through steps to reconnect your HP Smart Tank 6001 to Wi-Fi.

Restore Wi-Fi Setup Mode

Since the blue Wi-Fi light is blinking, your printer is likely in Auto Wireless Connect mode, but if pressing Information (i) + Wi-Fi + Cancel (X) doesn't work, try this:

  • Power off the printer completely.
  • Unplug it from the wall for 60 seconds.
  • Plug it back in and power it on.
  • Wait for the printer to initialize.
  • Now press and hold the Wi-Fi button on the printer until the light starts blinking rapidly. This should re-enable Wi-Fi setup mode.

Reconnect Using HP Smart App

  • Once Wi-Fi setup mode is active:
  • Download or open the HP Smart app on your phone or PC: HP Smart
  • Make sure your phone/PC is connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
  • Tap “+” to add a printer, and follow the on-screen instructions to connect your printer.

Optional: Reset Network Settings

If the above doesn’t work, you can reset the printer’s network settings:

  • Press and hold the Cancel (X) and Wi-Fi buttons together for 5 seconds until the Wi-Fi light blinks rapidly.
This will reset the network settings and allow you to start fresh.

Reconnect Manually (if needed)

If HP Smart fails to detect the printer:

  • Connect your phone/PC to the printer’s temporary Wi-Fi (e.g., HP-Setup-XXXX) from your Wi-Fi list.
  • Then open HP Smart and follow the setup steps to connect it to your home Wi-Fi.
