HP OfficeJet 9012 All-in-One Printer

I have a OfficeJet 9012  All-In-One ;  The blue light has been blinking.  I have unplugged the printer front the back and the outlet and let it sit overnight.  Still the same issue this morning.

The config menu is grey and the access is denied. I wanted to do a factory reset and I am facing the same issue. So the 1st option is to login as the admin and remove the access restriction. But how? I can't access the printer via the network.

2nd) I could perform a factory reset but the necessary menus are also grey and can't be used. So is there a hidden way to do a full reset so that the factory settings will be used?

I have rebooted my router and that did not help the printing not connecting.  It also mentions a password or security something along those line and I do not recall setting up a password for the printer.

Hi @palmtrees218,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If the blue light on your HP OfficeJet 9012 All-In-One printer is blinking, it usually indicates that there is a problem or an error condition. Performing a power reset, which you have already done, is a good initial troubleshooting step. However, if the issue persists, you can try the following steps to further troubleshoot the problem.

  • Check for any error messages: Look for any error messages or codes displayed on the printer's control panel or the connected computer. These messages can provide valuable information about the issue.
  • Update the printer firmware: Visit the HP support website and search for your printer model. Look for any available firmware updates and follow the instructions provided to update the printer's firmware. Firmware updates often fix known issues and improve printer performance.
  • Check ink or toner levels: Low ink or toner levels can sometimes cause issues with the printer. Check the ink or toner levels through the printer's control panel or the associated software on your computer. Replace any low or empty cartridges if necessary.
  • Clear any paper jams: Open the printer's paper input trays and access panels to check for any paper jams. If you find any jammed paper, carefully remove it following the instructions in the printer's manual.
  • Restart the printer and computer: Sometimes, restarting both the printer and the computer can help resolve temporary issues. Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, and also restart your computer. Afterward, plug the printer back in and power it on.
  • Check printer connections: Ensure that all the cables connecting the printer to your computer or network are properly connected and not loose or damaged.
  • Reset the printer settings: On the printer's control panel, navigate to the Settings menu and look for a "Restore Defaults" or "Reset" option. Select it to reset the printer settings to their factory defaults.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
