LaserJet M110w
Microsoft Windows 11

I just received and set up an M110w printer, and since I don't need wireless capability initially, I just plugged in a USB cable to a laptop running Windows 11. I did not install the HP Smart software which the included documentation seems to indicate is required.

Windows 11 correctly identified the USB-connected printer and I printed a test page which seemed to indicate that a matching driver was being used. A couple other quick tests of printing from Windows worked fine.  I printed a configuration page and no problems were noted.

The question is: Unless I want to use a WiFi connection, is there any reason to load the HP Smart software?  Am I going to have a problem if the printer never sees a WiFi connection to the Internet?  Would there be any issues if I some time later load the HP Smart software and phone app to get wireless capabililty?

With HP Smart you have way advanced print options, with Microsoft driver you are very limited. If it works fine for you just use it.
