Beginning Aug 2024, my printer M2256 stopped printing duplex automatically. It gives me the option to manually do it, but that is not possible for much of what I print; I bought this printer years ago because it is designed for automatic duplex printing. I noticed this after a Windows 11 update in August. I downloaded a new driver 3 times, but there is no change. The print menu also gives me the option of color printing, but this printer is only a B&W printer. There is no malware or viruses on the PC.

Welcome to the HP Support Community!
First try this:
A) Printer settings Duplexer:
Search Windows for 'devices', and then click the Devices and Printers control panel setting in the results.
Right-click the icon for your printer model, and then
click Device Settings tab
Installable Options > Duplexer: installed
If not, change to installed.
B) Automatic Two-Sided Duplex Accessory:
Enter the Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
Right click the printer icon, then click Printer Properties.
Click the Device Settings tab.
Set the Automatic Two-Sided Duplex Accessory as installed and click OK to save the change.
Now Automatic Duplexing should become available.
If the Options > Duplexer or Duplex Accessory is not displayed, then download only HP LaserJet Pro MFP M225-M226 Printer Full Software and Drivers
- Uninstall HP printer software, and then remove the printer from your Devices list.
- Restart the PC
- Close all programs
- Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo > in folder Downloads double-click on the EXE
- The installation was completed successfully, now you must ...
- Restart the PC again
- Now the installation is complete.
Document error messages accurately, even better is to take a screenshot of it and upload here.

Here are the choices I see when I look at the Advanced tab on Printer Properties. After the driver update, it was set to the Color LaserJet. My printer does not print on 11x17 or color either. I tried the other drivers listed and they don't work.

First try this:
