M252dw
macOS 11.0 Big Sur

We have an M252dw that is set up to be used wireless in our house, and up until recently, were able to print duplex from Windows, iPhone & iPad, and an iMac. From our Windows laptop, we have set up the printer to default to duplex. I have used the HP Smart app to set the printer to print duplex by default also. And from our iPhones or iPad, we can choose duplex whenever we print using AirPrint.

However, the Mac was recently upgraded to Monterey, and there no longer seems to be an option to print duplex. If we go into the printer settings, the only setting is paper size & orientation. When I checked the driver page for that printer, there doesn't seem to be anything for the Mac.

Any ideas?

@Morettina, Welcome to the HP Support Community! I’m here to help.

I understand you are not able to print on both sides from the Mac. According to the printer specification, this model printer can print on both sides automatically.

This looks like a printer driver issue.

Are you using the AirPrint option or the HP Smart app to print from the Mac?

Update the printer firmware

Click here to download and install the latest printer firmware from your Mac.

Click here to know different methods of updating printer firmware.

Also, check for any software updates on Mac

Click the Apple icon > About This Mac > Software Update and install any available update.

Reinstall the HP Smart app from the App Store on the Mac and check if that helps.

Hope this helps! Let me know how it goes.
