HP LaserJet M402dn
Microsoft Windows Server 2012

I'm installing this LaserJet M402dn on a 2012 print server, and it's picked up an HP Color LaserJet A3/11x17 PCL6 Class Driver for some reason. It won't accept the HP LaserJet Pro M402-M403 n-dn PCL-6 driver that I downloaded from HP's support site. I've tried updating the driver via the HP Print and Scan Doctor utility without success. The utility gives an error when it hits around 30% of install that states "A fatal error occurred preventing product use. Click 'Cancel' to cancel install." When I try to update the drive via Windows, the error message states, "Unable to install HP LaserJet Pro M402-M403 n-dne PCL 6, Type 3 - User Mode, x64 driver. The parameter is incorrect."

The printer is new out of the box last week.

If you are installing on a server then you should be using the HP UPD (Universal Printer Driver) PCL6. Do not use the discrete drivers for this application.

Thanks, but still no go. I receive this error, "Printer settings could not be saved. This operation is not supported."
