I don't know what to tell you.  I can't print on my Deskjet 1055 now that I've upgraded my laptop.  Fortunately, we also have an HP printer with WiFi that works with AirPrint and I can print using that.  That is not an option for many people with an otherwise very functional non-AirPrint HP printer.  I will say that I'm disappointed with HP's support on this problem.  There have been several HP employees that have made suggestions here, but none of them seem to work, at least with my printer.

It took a few hours, but using the rasberry pi as a print server I was able to make the printer work. So thanks for the idea. This was the webpage I used for how to do it. It only got me half way there but I figured out eventually, somehow?!! https://www.tomshardware.com/how-to/raspberry-pi-print-server

I have an HP LaserJet P1006 which no longer works after installing Mac OS 11.0.1 Big Sur. I checked the list of printers supported by GutenPrint & don't find it there. I had deleted the printer & the system can no longer even find it. What now?

@Dkenny,

Thanks for the confirmation.  I have a spare Raspberry Pi Zero W.  I'll try the setup described in the article and report back maybe late next week.  This sounds promising.
